Licenced?
There are many things to consider before deciding which electrician you should hire. In addition to costs and convenience, you should check that you professional electrician holds a licence. In Australia, every State and Territory government employs strict regulations when it comes to electrical safety standards. It is against the law to practise electrical installations and repairs without a licence. Therefore to be on the safe side, just check that your electrician holds a government licence.

Trade Member?
Another good thing to ask the electrician you are considering, is whether they are a member of a trade association. There are several electrical associations in Australia, each directed towards regulating standards and practises within the professional electricians community. If your electrician is a member of an association, it is a good sign that they uphold good standards.

How Much Experience?
Asking the electrician how long they have been in business helps you to see how much experience they have.
